Our History

I started Dignify Dementia in 2022, to honor my dad, who was diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinsonism in 2018. My mom and I have been the most active part of his caregiving community and we do all that we can to help him to stay safely in our family home.  We plan to support him at home for as long as we possibly can, but that carries a great deal of patience and responsibility, which are not always easy to hold on to when you're a care partner.

I am sharing a bit about our very personal journey for 3 reasons:

  • The first is to help my dad whose goal is to 'help others like him'
  • The second is the formation of Dignify Dementia where we sell a research-informed toolkit to help persons with Dementia develop a routine to stay anchored in the present
  • The third is to provide resources and support.  I want all of you who are struggling with Dementia, other neurodegenerative conditions, or you happen to be a caregiver for those people and are doing it in shame and silence that YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Simply put, the goal of Dignify Dementia is to help people living with Dementia, as well as members of their care communities to get, and stay connected to themselves, their families and their care communities while preserving their dignity.

Our mission

We help people living with Dementia, as well as members of their care community, to get, and stay, organized. We do this by offering unique dementia toolkits with fillable and customizable forms that allow each person to enact simple manageable routines that:

  1. Help people to stay anchored in the present,
  2. Give each individual more control of their day, and
  3. Have a written record of their daily life to help them better communicate with their physicians apprised, and avoid medical mistakes.

Our unique toolkit allows each person living with Dementia to dictate their own day by having a document written by their own hand, to which they can refer. Our skills-based approach allows them to focus more on the positive, and provides comfort to the individual and the caregiver.
